Trip to Blists Hill

A wonderful time was had by all when 15 residents, accompanied by 14 carers, visited Blists Hill, possibly the most famous of the museums in Ironbridge.

The party was able to experience life as it was more than a century ago through the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of a recreated Victorian town.

The trip was organised as part of National Dementia week in May, which the museum laid on to help highlight the disease.

Fiona Glover, one of the staff members on the trip, said: “We all had a brilliant time, from start to finish.

“We looked around some of the shops and then had a picnic by the traditional carousel. Some went up the funicular car and then went to the pub for drinks in the beer garden where we were visited by a shire horse.

“There is also an old fashioned sweet shop and we couldn’t leave without getting a few sweeties!”
