The Uplands was transformed into a mini bakery for a day as the Home joined in national Alzheimer’s Cupcake Day by holding our own competition.
Cakes were donated by staff and residents’ relatives and we had 12 entries in total.
A great deal of fun was had in the process, not least by Nick Horncastle and Dawn Bowland were given the enviable job of judging the competition.
After sampling many delicious cakes, the first prize was awarded to Doreen Henderson’s daughter Roz, for her magnificent lemon meringue cupcake. Hannah from the kitchen was runner-up with her chocolate and Baileys cake while Ruth from Reception came third with her lemon and blueberry cake.
More than £70 was raised for Alzheimer’s Society and many cakes were consumed over the afternoon!
