The Uplands at Oxon aims to provide the highest-quality nursing care in a homely environment.
Many activities that our residents would enjoy at home are integrated into our daily care at the Uplands, including walks, baking, arts & crafts and gardening. We also arrange regular outings such as narrow boat trips and shopping expeditions.
There are seven light and airy day rooms, one with French windows to the landscaped courtyard with wheelchair accessible gardens. Four are specialist day rooms supporting the dementia care units, one of which has direct access to a dedicated courtyard garden and another is equipped as a Snoozelum for people with dementia.
The dedicated dining room provides informal surroundings for light refreshments, for patients as well as their visitors. There are two hair and beauty salons, one on each floor, offering a range of treatments including aromatherapy, massage, reflexology and holistic therapies. Our hairdresser visits at least three times a week.
A further activities and Life-Long Learning room is to be found upstairs, with two dedicated personal computers with broadband access and video camera and a large screen for watching movies. The whole home has wireless broadband access available for residents and visitors.
The Uplands at Oxon has two dedicated dementia units with 40 dementia nursing beds in total. The dementia units provide evidenced based nursing care for patients within an environment specially designed for people with dementia. The staff provide activity-based person centred care, and within each unit there are special sensory and relaxation rooms.
