About Us

Marches Care Ltd is a family company wholly owned by Tony and Tricia West and their daughter, Mandy Thorn.

The family bought The Uplands Nursing Home in Dorrington in 1985, which had a reputation for excellence in nursing care. The move to the newly built Uplands at Oxon in June 2007 enabled the family company to expand its range of services to include dementia care for the first time as well as continuing to offer the very highest quality long term nursing care.

The management and staff of The Uplands at Oxon have worked hard to ensure that the reputation for quality care continues and we are proud that The Uplands at Oxon is recognised by the Care Quality Commission as a 3* EXCELLENT home. Please click on the link to the CQC web page www.cqc.org.uk for our latest inspection report, or contact us and we will send a copy to you.

The Uplands at Oxon has also been recognised by the NHS Gold Standards Framework for End of Life Care as a Beacon Home – one of only five such care homes in England.

The Uplands has a number of senior staff who hold care management qualifications, including the Managing Director Mandy Thorn and Home Manager Denise Chase RGN, who both have the NVQ IV in care management. Carey Bloomer RGN, our Clinical Lead Nurse and Deputy Home Manager has just completed the new leadership and management Level qualification, and two of our unit managers, Linda Riley RGN, and Carol Adams RGN, also have the older style NVQ IV in care management. Other management staff hold appropriate non-clinical qualifications in administration.

Marches Care Ltd is IIP accredited.
